Dark
Artist Statement
Initially, this series set out to capture a particular type of light; warm, lazy, lovely light that fingers through sheer curtains and washes the haze of early morning over still-closed eyes. My fixation of this light was interrupted when a particular young woman was referred to me in a professional capacity. As weeks passed I learned more of her experience and how her behaviour had changed, and become ritualistic as a result of this. Therapeutically I have met numerous people with stories similar to hers; but something about her changed me. I stopped noticing the warm, kind light and began documenting the type of light you see in this series. Thus this work has evolved to become a reflection of this person, and the dark light she carries with her.
